Breas Z2 Auto Travel APAP Machine with Z-Breathe
Breas Z2 Auto Travel APAP Machine with Z-Breathe Overview
Finding a good night’s sleep away from home is difficult, and doubly so for travelers who suffer from sleep apnea. Thankfully, the Z2 APAP machine from Breas makes CPAP therapy a mobile experience. Lightweight, compact and extremely quiet, the Z2 APAP is a convenient and effective sleep apnea solution for travelers. The trusty Z2 APAP even delivers sleep therapy off the grid, thanks to its optional PowerShell™ battery pack, which powers a full 8 hours of cord-free therapy.
CPAP Therapy On-the-Go
Traveling with a CPAP machine doesn’t have to be a hassle, because the Z2 APAP is compact enough to fit in the palm of your hand. You won’t have trouble finding a place for the Z2 in your suitcase or carry-on! It’s also one of the lightest CPAP machines available, weighing in at a mere 10 ounces. Small and lightweight, the Z2 APAP is also one of the quietest machines available – registering only 26 dBA during operation.
This compact Z2 APAP might be ideal for travel, but it packs a potent punch and is more than capable of serving as an everyday therapy machine. The tiny Z2 APAP machine can flow 4–20 cmH2O of pressure, satisfying the prescribed levels for most obstructive sleep apnea patients. The Z2 APAP also utilizes Breas’s comfort-enhancing Z-Breathe™ technology – a proprietary algorithm that lowers CPAP pressure during exhalation based on your breathing pattern.
Integrated CPAP Battery Pack
The Z2 APAP integrates seamlessly with Breas’s PowerShell, which can deliver a full 8 hours of cord-free CPAP therapy. That means campers and outdoor enthusiasts can cut the cord confident of a good night’s sleep, so long as the Z2 + PowerShell gets tucked away in their gear.
Designed and assembled in the USA, the Z2 APAP is backed by a 2–year warranty. It comes equipped with AC power supply, custom USB cable, and drawstring carrying pouch. The Z2 APAP also includes one disposable filter, as well as one HME Humidification Moisture Exchanger (a waterless humidification solution that connects between the CPAP mask and tube, an HME lasts for 5–7 days before it needs replacement).

Q: What's the difference between the Breas Z1 and Z2 Auto CPAP?
A: The Breas Z1 has been discontinued and replaced by the quieter Z2. In fact, the Z2's motor is 29% quieter than the original. Additionally, the Z2 now has a built-in muffler and an updated Start/Stop feature.
Q: Do my Z1 accessories work with the Z2?
A. Yes, your Z1 accessories will work with the Z2.
Q: Does the Z2 have a humidifier?
A: No, the Z2 does not have a traditional humidifier; however, the Z2 comes with an option for waterless humidification. This waterless humidification is also known as a "Heat Moisture Exchanger" or HME.
Q: How does the HME work?
A: The HME fits between your mask and the hose. HMEs are designed to capture moisture into a sponge each time the user exhales. As the patient breathes in, that captured humidity is delivered back to the patient. For best results, connect the HME to the mask. If it feels as if the HME is no longer providing enough humidification, replace the HME.
Q: How long does an HME last?
A: HMEs can last up to a week and longer, depending on how the HME is stored. Higher pressure settings and how often the HME is used also play a role in how long the HME will last. It is recommended to keep HMEs stored in an airtight container or zip-lock bag.
Q: What if the HME does not produce enough moisture for me?
A: Nasal gels and sprays and/or the addition of an in-room humidifier can help.
Q: Can I track my sleep therapy with the Z2?
A: Yes. The Z2 has its own built-in app called Nitelog, which is free of charge. The Nitelog app connects to your smartphone (Apple or Android) and stores your sleep data. You can also share your sleep data with your doctor via email.
Q: Can you transfer data from my Z1 to my Z2?
A: No. Sleep data cannot be moved from one machine to another.
Q: Do I need a special CPAP mask to use the Z2?
A: No. You may use your current CPAP mask, as the Breas Z2 will work with any standard CPAP mask.
Q: Does the Breas Z2 come with a battery?
A: No, the Z2 does not include a battery. Sold separately, Breas offers the PowerShell with Extended Life Battery. This is an integrated battery that works for both the Z1 and Z2. This battery is designed to maximize even the highest pressure settings of your sleep therapy.
Q: Does the purchase of a Z2 Auto CPAP require a prescription?
A: Yes, all CPAP purchases require a prescription before.
Q: Will a BiPAP prescription work for the Breas Z2?
A: Unfortunately, no. The Breas Z2 is only capable of APAP and CPAP pressure settings.
Q: What voltage does the Z2 use?
A: The Z2 runs on 100-240V. This means you do not need a converter for travel (you may need a plug adapter, though, depending on where you are traveling).
Q: Why is my Z2 Auto shutting off during the night?
A: If your new Z2 Auto is randomly shutting off during the night, it may be the Auto Start/Stop feature misinterpreting a leak during the night.
Q: How do you turn off the Auto Start/Stop feature?
A: When enabled, the Auto Start feature will start the treatment automatically when the mask is placed on the face and you start to breathe. It will stop the treatment after the mask has been removed. To restart the treatment, place the mask back on your face and start to breathe through the mask.
Q: My pressure setting is spiking and/or uneven, what can I do?
A: In most cases, severely fluctuating pressure is due to a leak in the mask or hose. Be sure that all connections are tight and that the mask and hose are in good working order.
Don’t give up on getting a restful night’s sleep while away from home! The compact and lightweight Z2 CPAP makes it too easy to take your sleep apnea therapy on the road.
